my sister is
my default friend -
i default to her on
fashion
decorating
activities
vacations
and the life lessons
she has learned
and shares with love -
i also call her
when i am bored

healing

taking in the quiet times
learning to feel peace
a dash of content
a dash of calm
a heap of trust in God

baking up this loveliness
curled up in a chair
with a book
with a coffee
decaf in the pot to spare

lessons i have learned:
how fragile is the mind
i am no rock, no island
after 33 years of trying
there are things i can't control
